The Madison-Oneida Red Cross and Dunkin Donuts announced last week that John Potter is recipient of the January Volunteer of the Month Award. Potter serves in various capacities for the local Red Cross, volunteering his time at the Chapter office, at local and national disasters, blood drives and on various projects and events. Potter also maintains the Chapter's Emergency Response Vehicle, ensuring that it is always ready to go to any emergency in the area.
Potter's hobby is woodworking. For the Red Cross Silent Auction on April 24, Potter has made a coffee table.
"John is a dedicated American Red Cross volunteer who consistently goes the extra mile," said Paulette Loomis of the Red Cross.
The Madison-Oneida Chapter of the American Red Cross has partnered with Dunkin Donuts to show appreciation for the tireless efforts of its local volunteers with the Volunteer of the Month Award. Dunkin Donuts has provided gift cards to present to the Red Cross Volunteer of the Month. This partnership allows the Chapter to express its appreciation to volunteers while at the same time giving Dunkin Donuts a stake in the community as well.
The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to man the Disaster Action Team, work on local bloodmobiles and to teach CPR, first aid and babysitting classes. Other opportunities exist for people who want to volunteer but cannot make a regular time commitment, helping with events and projects.
