The Syracuse International Film Festival will celebrate the most festive night in film with its first annual Oscar Party. At 7 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 22, SyrFilmFest invites supporters of the festival and cinephiles to the Palace Theater on James Street for a glamorous night of fun, food, and, of course,Oscar-watching.
Beginning at 7 p.m., guests will be greeted at the Palace doors with picture taking on the red carpet. All guests will receive a raffle ticket, which is good for prize drawings that will take place throughout the evening.
Guests will also receive a ballot to use to predict the Oscar winners. The three most accurate Oscar ballots will receive prizes, including a full festival pass to SyrFilmFest '09, movie memorabilia, DVDs and free movie tickets.
Partygoers will munch on hors d'oeuvres, dessert and all-you-can-eat popcorn as they watch the live Oscar telecast on the television in the Palace Theater's upstairs lounge or downstairs on the big screen. Beer, wine and cocktails will be available for purchase at the cash bar.
Tickets to this exclusive event are $25, and only 100 tickets will be sold. Guests will be able to apply the price of their Oscar Party ticket to the cost of a full festival pass to the 2009 Syracuse Film Festival.
This unique evening presents an exciting opportunity to celebrate the best films of 2008, share the drama of the Oscar ceremony with fellow film lovers, and whet your appetite for SyrFilmFest '09.
