Baker student selected for scholarship and solo performance

Brian Scott, a junior at Baker High School, has been awarded a scholarship of $1,500 from the Young Artist Development program.

Scott will use his scholarship to attend the Open Jar program in New York City this summer. It's a five-day intensive workshop for musical theater. He will be working with Broadway professionals to hone and perfect his singing talent and performance skills.

Scott has also been selected to sing a solo with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra on March 12 in a concert titled, "Broadway Stars." He will sing "Wouldn't You Like to Be on Broadway," from the musical "Street Scene." He is one of only five students from Onondaga County selected to sing with the symphony.
