*Each student will plan their entire high school schedule based on this information, with assistance from teachers, counselors and administrators. This process will identify students with an interest in modern manufacturing who would be strong candidates for JETI-21.
*Businesses have agreed to join the district in working with students to get them excited about manufacturing.
*All JETI-21 courses will be available to students in grades 9-12. Some may wish to further their preparation in our high quality BOCES courses or in partnerships with post secondary institutions and/or businesses.
*Students who become members of the Institute will take core academic courses according to Regents requirements, plus a full complement of JETI-21 courses.
*Beginning next fall, JETI-21 will offer courses in Plastics Manufacturing, Reading and Writing Technological Language, Electronics in Manufacturing, Applied Technological Mathematics, and Modern Manufacturing Overview. Currently, the district offers and will continue courses in Drawing and Design and Pre-Engineering.
*At the conclusion of the course of study, students will again participate in the WorkKeys program to assess their competency. Work is in progress to develop a reliable endorsement or credential to give businesses an accurate assessment of student preparation for entry level employment.
*To date, the district has created this program with no additional funds.
