B'ville: Highlights from Reynolds Elementary

PTA sponsored reading program

Reynolds began its annual PARP reading program Nov 30 to encourage students to read every day, especially under the supervision of a parent or family member. The program runs for about 10 weeks. At the beginning of the program, the school held a book exchange during all lunches. Any student who brought in at least one gently used book to donate to the exchange was able to choose at least one book for himself or herself from those collected. Chapter books were a hot item for second through fifth grades. The book exchange, coordinated each year by the school's PTA, is an inexpensive way for families to update their home libraries to sustain their children's interest in reading.
