Dr. David Kohl to headline January event
The New York Corn Growers Association (NYCGA) will host the 2010 New York Corn Expo Thursday Jan. 28 at the Holiday Inn Syracuse in Liverpool. The event offers farmers and agricultural industry professionals the opportunity to hear from experts on a variety of topics related to production, marketing and operations management. Participants will also be able to visit vendor displays at the tradeshow and network with colleagues. Those who register by Jan. 15 will receive a discounted rate.
This year's featured speaker is Dr. David Kohl, professor emeritus of agricultural and applied economics at Virginia Tech University. Kohl is currently the president of AgriVisions, LLC, an organization providing advanced programs to leading agricultural leaders worldwide. He is also part owner of Homestead Creamery - a value added dairy business located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Kohl has conducted more than 5,000 workshops and seminars for agricultural groups and has published four books and more than 1,000 articles on financial and business-related topics. This popular speaker is back this year to focus on The Pulse of the Economy: Around the Corner and Down the Road.
A panel of outstanding farmers will be featured again this year and will challenge Kohl's arguments. In addition, they will talk about their risk management programs and their perspectives on profit teams for crop producers.
On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the event concludes at 3:45 p.m. All paid registrants are eligible to receive a 50 percent discount on a new NYCGA membership. Attendees will have access to the trade show before the first session, at breaks and during lunch. Winners of the 2009 Corn Grain and Silage Yield Contest, which recognizes top corn growers who have the highest yields from five New York State regions, will be presented with prizes. The NYCGA Annual Meeting will follow the Corn Expo program.
Sponsorship of the 2010 New York Corn Expo is available at the pewter, bronze, silver, gold and platinum levels ranging from $250 to $3,000.
