The Rescue Mission's Liverpool Thrifty Shopper will open early Friday for a live radio broadcast.
Mars Hill Network, heard in the Syracuse area on WMHR at 102.9FM, will air "Mornings With Dan and Val" live between 6 and 9:30 a.m. from the store, located at 680 Old Liverpool Road.
Hosts Dan Dunn and Valerie Case will feature live and recorded Christmas music as well as interviews with Rescue Mission staff as part of their annual Christmas program.
This is another collaboration between two nonprofits: the Rescue Mission, which has helped the homeless and needy since 1887 and has services in the Syracuse, Binghamton and Auburn areas; and Mars Hill Network, a listener-supported radio network that is celebrating its 40th year and operates full-powered FM stations in Syracuse, Webster/Rochester, Cape Vincent/Watertown and Malone/Massena.
Come out Friday to meet these radio personalities for some early morning fun and check out the bargains that help support Rescue Mission services.
Community members are also invited to Saturday's progressive Christmas sale at Rescue Mission stores in Auburn, Baldwinsville, Binghamton, Cortland, East Syracuse, Fairmount, Henrietta, Liverpool, North Syracuse, Oswego, the Valley section of Syracuse and Watertown.
Already reasonable prices on clothing, household goods and furniture will be slashed 40 percent between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., 50 percent between 5 and 8 p.m. and 60percent between 8 and 10 p.m. This is a great opportunity to save on last-minute Christmas gifts and help the Rescue Mission serve increasing numbers of needy people.
