Taste of B'ville accepting auction items and sponsorships

The 2010 Taste of Baldwinsville is now accepting auction items and sponsorships from area businesses, groups and individuals. All proceeds will benefit the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center's community programs.

The Taste of Baldwinsville will be held on Saturday March 6 at the CNY Family Sports Centre on Jones Road. Last year, more than 600 people attended the event.

Most donated items will be sold at a silent auction. Higher value items will be reserved for a live auction later in the evening. In past years, auction items have included a wide variety of goods and services, neighborhood baskets, artwork, sports memorabilia, getaway trips and furniture.

Monetary sponsorships are also needed for the event. Any contribution is welcome and, depending on the level, sponsors will be recognized in the event program and through publicity.

The food samplings of area restaurants are, of course, the centerpieces of the event. Many of last year's restaurants are returning in 2010 and the event committee is seeking others. In addition to the usual dinner fares, restaurants are welcome to present desserts, coffee and other complimentary items.

Anyone who would like to donate auction items, become a sponsor or participate as a restaurant should contact Nancy Conley of the Volunteer Center at 638-0251.

The Baldwinsville Volunteer Center mobilizes people and resources to fulfill needs within the community. Its programs include transporting senior citizens; the Christmas Bureau, which provides food and gifts to families and elderly shut-ins; mentoring school children; promoting community involvement and opportunities for youth, and an information and referral help line to let people know about community resources and promote volunteer opportunities. For more information on the Volunteer Center, please visit bvillevolunteers.org or call 638-0251.
