The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum announced its 21st class of inductees Dec. 8.
Living inductees include two boxers, Jung-Koo "The Korean Hawk" Chang (South Korea) and Danny "Little Red" Lopez (USA). Others are manager Shelly Finkel (USA), referee and commissioner Larry Hazzard (USA), promoter Wilfried Sauerland (Germany), matchmaker Bruce Trampler (USA) and journalist Ed Schuyler (USA).
"We're very excited here in Canastota and at the International Boxing Hall of Fame at the announcement of this year's class of inductees because it's truly international," Executive Director Edward Brophy said.
Chang, a former light flyweight champion of the world, is the first Korean boxer to be inducted.
Posthumous honorees in the old-timer category are Young Corbett II, Rocky Kansas and Billy Miske. In the modern category, Lloyd Marshall will be inducted while Paddington Tom Jones will be inducted in the pioneer category. In the observer category, broadcaster Howard Cosell will be inducted.
"He (Cosell) broadcast the greatest fights of his era and he did it with excellence with his voice and his knowledge," Brophy said.
The 21st Annual Hall of Fame Weekend is scheduled for June 10 through June 13.
