The Good Doctor, directed by Jon Barden, is Neil Simon's tribute to one of his play writing idols: the Russian playwright Anton Chekov. The Good Doctor is a series of scenes and vignettes (12 in all) written as Chekov farces with that wonderful Simon touch. Both funny and poignant, this play offers actors a chance to show off their versatility and talent.
The cast is an ensemble of as few as three males and two females and as large as four males and three females. Ages of the actors vary from 20s to 50s. Versatility and talent are the key. Each actor will have at least four different roles that will vary in age and type. One male and one female will also need to be able to sing.
