Off the shelf: Upcoming events at Maxwell Memorial Library

With our summer reading program winding down, it's time for Kids' Time and Camillus Page Turners to return. Kids' Time, our after school story and craft program for children ages 5 to 7 years old, will be held on Mondays from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. starting on Sept. 14. Kids' Time is free, and no registration is needed. Just stop in and join the fun!

Camillus Page Turners is a book club for children ages 9 to 12 with an accompanying adult. It is part of the Together Series Book Talk for children and parents, provided through a grant from the New York Council for the Humanities. Book themes will include courage, freedom, and being American. The club meets once a month on Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The first session this fall will be on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Page Turners is free; look for more information soon at the library and on our website.

Please join us for Maxwell Movie Nights, offered on the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. Films are always family-oriented, and we provide the popcorn! Movie Nights are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, so come early. Our next show is the nature documentary "Earth," scheduled for Sept. 14. The film is a new release from Disney Nature, and is narrated by James Earl Jones. "Earth" follows three animal families (arctic polar bears, African elephants, and humpback whales) for an entire year. It is rated G, and runs 90 minutes.

Sally's preschool story time for children ages 3 to 5 is held on Mondays, starting Sept. 14, and Tuesdays, starting Sept. 8, at 10:30 a.m. through December 22. "Stories with Sally" for the under-3 crowd is on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. from Sept. 9 through December 23. No registration is required for any of our story times, but a parent or guardian must remain with children and participate with them during Stories with Sally.
