MAD Art hosts pendant-making workshop

Learn the art of fusing glass to create a one of a kind pendant or pin at the MAD Art Community Art Space from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday Sept. 12. Amber Blanding of Amber Waves of Glass will be teaching the class.

Blanding is a 2002 graduate of Alfred University with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. Her business has been up and running since 2004 and encompasses the many ways to manipulate glass through casting and fuding in a kiln, glass blowing, hot glass bead making and stained glass design. Blanding lives in Central New York and is the arts administratoe for the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazeonovia.

Each student will learn how to make one piece of fused glass art, either a pendant or a pin, plus learn to wire wrap or attach findings to complete the piece. There is a limit of eight people for this class, so early registration is suggested. The fee is $30 for members and $35 for non-members, while an additional $10 fee is applicable for materials and will be made payable to the instructor.
