A unique festival, Ying said a lot of its uniqueness has to do with the community, which exudes a welcoming spirit.
"You sense a warmth" within the community, Ying said.
Each year Ying and Freer hope the festival contains "pleasant surprises" for those in the audiences.
"That's our aim, that it's fresh and exciting every year," Ying said.
With each new year, also come changes to perspective on listening. For instance, each week follows a different theme, like "I love New York," which comes to a close with "Broadway comes to Brook Farm" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday Aug. 29 at Brook Farm.
"We like to make each week a little different," Ying said.
