On the last day of July female supporters gathered at the Joe Nicoletti campaign headquarters to announce the formation of "Women for Joe Nicoletti." The group was comprised of prominent local union leaders, small business owners, community activists, homemakers and teachers. The women pledged to volunteer their time and resources to Nicoletti's campaign and vowed to work hard to get him elected.
"We are here today to tell the public why we support Syracuse's Joe Nicoletti and believe that he is the best person to be our next Mayor. Every woman standing behind me today is here because she believes that Joe has both the necessary experience and temperament that no other candidate possesses. Some of us have known Joe for years, others, for just a short time, but I speak for every woman here when I say there is no doubt in my mind that Joe is the best candidate for the job," said Ann Marie Taliercio, President of UNITE HERE Local 150.
"I am truly honored by the support from all these outstanding women of our community. I am confident that working together we are going to create a better community for all our families. As mayor, it is my goal to provide the people of Syracuse with the opportunities to obtain a decent job, secure a good education for their children, and to improve the quality of life in all our neighborhoods. We need to create safe, clean neighborhoods and schools; I know that working together, we will make Syracuse a better place," Nicoletti said.
