Motorcyclists from all over Central New York will gather together to participate in a charity ride, the "2009 MDA Ride for Life" Saturday Aug. 15. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the Ride will take off from Performance Harley Davidson at 11 a.m.
The 65-mile Ride for Life will conclude at the Galaxy Communication's Chick 'N Wing Festival at Syracuse's Inner Harbor. Riders and MDA families will join together to celebrate hope and fight to find the cure for over 43 different neuromuscular diseases. The hopes are to have more than 400 bikes take part in this year's event and to raise more than $25,000 for all of Jerry's Kids here in Central New York.
MDA helps children and adults who are affected by any of the 40-plus neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA's patient care and research programs. All the money raised goes to help local families living in Central and Northern New York. Please take a moment to drop some cash into a boot when you see your local fire fighters out on Friday.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education. The association's programs are funded almost entirely by individual, private contributions.
