World's best anglers take on Oneida Lake this week

Over 100 of the world's best fisherman are headed to Oneida Lake this week, Aug. 13 to 16, to participate in the 2009 Bassmaster Elite Series. This last regular season stop on the tour will feature the following anglers who are currently among the top ten in the race for Angler of the Year:

4 Gary Klein, Texas

5 Aaron Martens, Alabama

6 Michael Iaconelli, New Jersey

7 Kelly Jordon, Texas

8 Todd Faircloth, Texas

9 Randy Howell, Alabama

10 Kevin Short, Arkansas

In addition to the pros, a select group of anglers will be taking part in the event for the first time as part of the inaugural season of the Bassmaster Elite Series Marshal program. This exclusive opportunity will allow a select group of Bass members from throughout the country to ride along with the pros during competition. The marshals will be able to learn a lifetime of bass fishing tips and experience first-hand a full day of tournament fishing from the best seat in the house.

Fans are encouraged to attend the daily launches at 6 a.m. and the weigh-ins at 4 p.m. Thursday to Sunday. Plenty of on-shore activity will take place over the weekend including a Trailblazer Adventure Day from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday which will introduce families to archery, firearm safety, fishing, trapping, game calling and more. Upstate New York's hottest country act, Wendy Owens and Renegade band, will appear on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Also on Saturday, fans are invited to experience an "Ask the Experts" session with Elite pros at 3 p.m. Kids' adventure games such as bungee run, inflate a hoop, super castle moonwalk and spin art are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Dog training and retriever demonstrations will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday followed by a boat performance and demonstration on Saturday. Sunday's activities will include a live taping of Hooked Up, hosted by ESPN Outdoors personalities Mark Zona and Tommy Sanders. The show, which will air live at 3:30 p.m. on Bassmaster.com will preview Sunday's final weigh-in. All activities at the event are free and open to the public. Admission to the beach, open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., will be free and the boat launch, $5 to $8, will be open.
