Judges ask for clerical help

"We're asking for emergency funding to get us through the next three or four weeks," Dell said.

For the time being, Georgette Waldau, Otisco town and court clerk, has been trying to help out at the Skaneateles court. Waldau said it was quite a shock to work with Hall and see 86 tickets come through the court on her first day of helping.

According to budget officer Bridgett Winkelmann, there is just over $1,700 in the court budget and fund a part-time clerk, at 12 hours a week instead of 10, through the end of the fiscal year would cost $2,880

With a difference of approximately $1,100, Councilman Jim Greenfield moved that the board approve expending the money and to come up with the extra funds if they needed to.

The board unanimously approved the hiring of a part-time experienced court clerk for 12 hours a week at $12 per hour. Paying mileage will be dependent on where the hired person is coming from.
