Golf Classic to raise funds for Aurora

Empire Vision Centers will be the major sponsor of the 13th Annual ForeSIGHT Golf Classic Sept. 14 at Foxfire in Baldwinsville.

The tournament, which is being held to raise awareness of the needs of people with vision and hearing loss, will benefit AURORA of Central New York, Inc.

Empire has been a long-time supporter of the tournament, which raised almost $17,000 in 2008.

"We're looking forward to another successful turnout," said Anne Costa, AURORA's director of community and resource development.

Outback Steakhouse, which is co-sponsoring the tournament, will cater dinner at Foxfire's Pucello's restaurant for the hungry golfers.

"Relaxing in the ambiance at Pucello's and enjoying the delicious dinner are a perfect way to end the day," said Deb Chaiken, AURORA's executive director.

AURORA offers low-vision services, rehabilitation, training, education, employment and social support to people who have visual and hearing impairments. For more than 90 years, the agency has been serving people in Central New York who are blind, deaf, visually impaired and hard of hearing.

Tournament organizers are signing up golfers now. For more information, call AURORA at 422-7263 or visit auroraofcny.org.
