Fred "Fritz" Scherz, Jr. of Verona announced yesterday that he is officially running for councilman on the Verona Town Board in this year's upcoming election. Fritz has earned endorsements from the following political parties: Conservative, Independence, Republican and the Working Families Party.
"I want to thank the four political parties that endorsed me, the volunteers that carried my designating petitions for me," said Scherz. "And the hundreds of people that signed my designating petitions, helping me get on the ballot."
"Regarding my candidacy, I've lived in Verona all my life and am proud to be a resident along with my family," he said.
Scherz said he believes his 13-plus years of work experience in government, sense of community, work ethic and determination makes him an ideal candidate for councilman on the Verona Town Board.
"I'm hopeful residents of the town of Verona will give me the opportunity to serve them," he said.
The primary date this year is Sept. 15 while the date of the general election is Nov. 3.
