On the wine front: Me like Cuco

A visit to Liquor Square (Erie Blvd) can be anything from mundane to extraordinary. It's really up to the customer, as there is something for every taste or desire when it comes to spirits and fermented grape juice. For a big store it is pretty well organized, not overstocked. You want a bottle of cheap Vodka? You'll find it. You want a bottle of small batch handcrafted vodka flavored with chipotle peppers (smoked jalapenos)? It's there, too.

Help in selecting

There are always plenty of able-bodied wine and spirit enthusiasts on staff that are willing to help. But they will also back off if you aren't in the mood.

On the other hand, it is also Charles "Chuck" Pascale's headquarters. Chuck is the right brain of CNY's Pascale family, or the creative spirit. He is the yang to his brother Neal's organized ying (or is that the other way around?). The Pascale Family owns several wine stores, a couple of restaurants, a bakery and a catering business throughout CNY.

Chuck Pascale's palate

Anyone who has ever traveled to Italy, would have to ask the question, "Was Chuck really born in America?" As he is the embodiment of the Italian male: tall, dark, handsome, athletic, clever and thoroughly incorrigible, yet at the same time simpatico. His life is organic, sensual and alive with nerve-endings seemingly exposed to the elements. This doesn't often make for the most centered life, but on the other hand, there are a lot of adventures.

With all this, Chuck's greatest asset after his wife, Lynn, is his palate. Believe it or not, it is one that is known worldwide. Well, at least in the world's great wine regions. So, if you happen to be off your wine game, or an amateur, or even a neophyte, and you bump into Chuck, you will be in luck. And, don't be shy that's his gig.
