The New Beginnings Methodist Church in Wampsville, held many family and friends that came to share in honoring the life of Lance Cpl. Jeremy Lasher, 27.
Lasher, a longtime staple in the Oneida and Verona communities, and eslewhere, was described as a "soft spoken" young man by all that spoke of him today, including the Reverend Skip Hellmig, who officiated the service.
Close family friends of the Verona Fire Department said that Lasher is not to be mourned, but to "honor what he has become."
Several servicemen and the Patriot Guard were in attendance to pay respect to a man they all looked at as a "true American hero."
Contributions, in Jeremy's memory, may be made to the Caden S. Lasher Educational Fund, c/o Oneida Savings Bank, 182 Main Street, Oneida, NY 13421.
