Peace luncheon reaches five-year mark

Each week the couple signs in and they pay for the following week as well.

"I think we've only missed one because of a doctor's appointment," Victoria said. "So now when I make an appointment, I say not on Wednesday."

The event is just that important to the couple.

To celebrate five years, Randy Lamanche, food service director for Peace, attended the lunch and gave out tokens of appreciation -- sturdy canvass bags with the Peace Inc. insignia.

"I think five years demonstrates that it's been a successful program," Lamanche said. "We just want to recognize a handful of seniors that have been helping."

The organization provides services to 24 locations in Onondaga County and relies on volunteers and their dedication. Lamanche attended the lunch in order to publicly thank the volunteers for their help.

Volunteers recognized for service include:

John and Jeanne Pilger

Bill Pavlus

Linda Hutchings

Marge Richardson

Barbara Hamlin

Joseph Padgett, who is also a Peace employee

Nancy Thomas
