State Police arrest trooper for petit larceny

State Police in Oneida arrested David J. Volz, 28, from Oriskany for one count of petit larceny, a Class "A" misdemeanor.

Volz was charged after taking truck loads of mulch from Mohawk Valley Mulch, Inc in Rome. The investigation revealed that Volz loaded a borrowed dump truck with mulch that was not paid for.

Volz is employed as a New York State Trooper and is assigned to the Herkimer County area. He has been with the State Police for two years.

Volz was processed at the State Police Lee barracks and issued an appearance ticket on the petit larceny charges for the city of Rome Court returnable on May 1 at 9 a.m.

Volz was also issued several uniform traffic tickets for unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle and uninsured motor vehicle. He also faces internal disciplinary charges.
