This exuberant image by Blodgett School second grader Elijah Martin is entitled "Self-Potato." It's on view now at Delavan Art Gallery, part of the 6th Annual Benefit Art Show by Westside students from Blodgett and Seymour Magnet Elementary Schools. This exhibition has more than 100 pieces of art including over 50 drawings and paintings, fused glass jewelry, collages, weavings and sculptures from grades K through 8.
Delavan worked with Blodgett art teachers Stacy Griffin and Izzy Dugger, and with Seymour's Kelly Moser-Voglerto mount this year's exhibition. Some Delavan Center artists contributed materials and Commercial Art Supply contributed matting for the exhbition. Many works sold quickly at the late afternoon opening reception on April 9th with affordable prices ranging from $10-$30. The proceeds will be split between the young artists and the schools' art departments for purchase of more art supplies.
This exhibition is on view through April 25th at Delavan Art Gallery, 501 W. Fayette St., Thursday and Friday noon to 6 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM and by appointment.
