Guignard's Florist celebrates 9 years

On the other hand, Michele said she has always enjoyed flowers and gardening.

"I was always outside playing in the dirt," she said.

Now owning their shop, the couple said they have seen much success over the years. The gift shops in Crouse hospital, St. Joseph's hospital and University hospital all exclusively sell wholesale flowers supplied by Guignard Florist.

Since they act as a full service florist, they not only supply wholesale but they do all special occasions and events. The shop recently supplied 75 plants to St. John's Catholic Church in Liverpool for the Easter season.

For several years now, the shop has provided a variety of spring arrangements to the Veterans Administration hospital through the American Legion in Liverpool.

The Donardos have made the shop much their own with the presence of their 7-year-old yellow Labrador, Jenna.

"She loves the carnations," said the couple about Jenna's "help" in the back room where the arrangements and flower trimming is done.

In the future, the couple said they would like to include some greenhouse space on site in order to grow some annuals and perennials for fresh-cut floral arrangements.

The shop delivers to all of Onondaga and Madison Counties, and southern parts of Oswego County. There is a minimum delivery charge of $7.95 and the high usually runs around $9 for delivery to further locations.

The Donardos said they are pleased with heir business thus far, and hope for many more successful years to come.
