This year, Reynolds Elementary School's theme for its PARP program was, "I scream, you scream, we all scream for reading!"
The program ran from the beginning of December to the end of February. Students in kindergarten through fifth grades read a total of 21,416 books. Each student in kindergarten through second grade who read at least 100 books, and in third through fifth grade who read at least 25 books (books for this age group are usually chapter books), received a bookmark from Friendly's Restaurant and a free kid's meal and ice cream sundae coupon.
The top readers from each grade were: Joshua Petragnani, kindergarten; Michael Carr, first grade; Cooper Pyle, second grade; Cameron Beckley, third grade; Lyndsey Slavik, fourth grade; and Karin Walker, fifth grade.
The program, sponsored by the school's PTA, was coordinated by Heather Slavik, chairperson, Nicole Hahn, Cindy Warren, Stephanie Pyle, Johnnie-Lynn Fioramonti and Linda Horan.
