Through the easier early part of its schedule, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys lacrosse team has encountered little turbulence.
In fact, when the Northstars visited Utica Proctor last Wednesday night, it kept the Raiders off the board for a rare shutout, winning by a score of 15-0.
Really, CNS let up in the late going, this after putting in six goals in each of the first two periods to build a 12-0 halftime margin.
Amid a balanced attack, Nic Heldt had three goals and two assists, with Sean McCaffery close behind as he got three goals and one assist.
Mike DeBottis, with two goals and two assists, led the next wave, as John Stimson also scored twice. Robbie Ashlaw got a goal and two assists, while Nick Oppedisano, Justin Peterie, Ricky Estrada and Joe Becker had single goals, too. Pat Tierney contributed a pair of assists. On the defensive end, CNS held the Raiders to just five shots.
Back home at Bragman Stadium Thursday night, the Northstars made it four wins in a row, blasting past Rome Free Academy 18-4.
It actually was close for a while, with CNS not assuming gradual control until the second period. After the break, though, the Northstars hit the next gear, outscoring RFA 11-1 the rest of the way.
Ashlaw, with four assists (to go with three goals) and Heldt, with five assists, set up most of those scoring plays. McCaffery had five goals, with MacNabb getting three goals and one assist. DeBottis, Estrada, Tierney, John Stimson, Cody Powers and Nick Russo each had one goal.
