NPE Hosts 10th Annual SPCA Drive

Nate Perry Elementary held its 10 Annual SPCA drive during the past few weeks in efforts to donate as much food and supplies to the local Central New York chapter.

Today the students had the honor of hosting Executive Director of the CNYSPCA, Paul Morgan and director of public education for the CNYSPCA Stephanie Woyciesjes. The most memorable visitor for the past several years has been CNYSPCA ambassador dog, Abba.

Abba, a 9-year-old female wired-hair Chihuahua, posed for photos at the donation table and with NPE Principal Margo Ross. NPE held a special spirit assembly in the gym to honor their guests and present all the donations they collected.

The students showed their thanks by singing a song called "It's Ruff Being a Dog," which is a song they sing each year in honor of the event and Abba's visit.

In the recent fundraising efforts made by the CNYSPCA, Morgan said that more than $80,000 was collected thus far in donations to keep the shelter running. He said the shelter has further fundraising planned for the near future.
