B'ville: 2008 volunteers of the year celebrated April 25

The Baldwinsville Volunteer Center is taking reservations for the 2008 Outstanding Man and Woman Volunteer of the Year Awards banquet.

At the dinner, one man and one woman will be honored for their exceptional volunteer service to the Greater Baldwinsville community. Last year's recipients were Norma Goodman and John O'Neil.

"All of the wonderful people who volunteer their time and talent in our community should be applauded," said Nancy Conley, executive director of the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center. "However, this dinner is a special time to honor those who have made a truly remarkable donation of themselves."

The annual dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday April 25 at Pucello's restaurant. Reservations are $25 per person and are due by April 13. To make a reservation, please visit the center weekdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. or mail a check payable to the "Baldwinsville Volunteer Center" to the center at 44 Oswego St., Baldwinsville, NY 13027. All reservations must be prepaid.

The Baldwinsville Volunteer Center mobilizes people and resources to fulfill needs within the community. Its programs include transporting senior citizens; the Christmas Bureau, which provides food and gifts to families and elderly shut-ins; mentoring school children; promoting community involvement and opportunities for youth, and an information and referral helpline to let people know about community resources and promote volunteer opportunities.
