Beaver Lake happenings this weekend

Tortoises and tortellini

At 11 a.m. Monday April 6, Beaver Lake Nature Center will host tortoises and tortellini, a morning presentation on tortoises followed by a tantalizing tortellini lunch. Diana Sleiertin of MaxMan Reptile Rescue will offer a unique, interactive opportunity for participants to meet a variety of rescued reptiles including a tortoise and numerous turtle cousins. Reptile Rescue is committed to educating the public about responsible reptile pet ownership, habitat and animal conservation and works towards dispelling the myths and misunderstandings surrounding reptiles. After the presentation a buffet lunch will be provided offering participants a chance to talk informally with Sleiertin. The price is $15 and advanced registration is required.

T'ai Chi Chih

At 6:30 p.m. beginning this Tuesday April 7, Beaver Lake Nature Center will offer an eight session class in T'ai Chi Chih. T'ai Chi Chih is a great low-impact exercise benefiting the body, mind and spirit. The serene setting of Beaver Lake is the perfect place to learn and practice the 20 elementary moves that can be done by anyone of any age. The classes will meet on the following Tuesdays: April 7, 14, 21, 28 May 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 6:30 p.m. The price for this program is $35 and advance registration is required.
