Phase three of the Seneca Knolls road improvement project should be underway soon.
Van Buren officials awarded Joseph J. Lane Construction the contract, which includes drainage work from Rufus Circle near Margaret Drive past Meays and Leopold, after the company submitted a low bid of $75,888. Engineers had estimated the project at $126,117 and the highest bid received was for $135,960.
"JJ Lane is a good firm, a good company," said Supervisor Claude Sykes adding the project should be complete by May 1 if contractors begin soon.
Officials said some of the left over money, which was saved by going with the lowest bidder, would be used to pave roads that were patched last year.
