Both of the Skaneateles indoor track and field teams held up well against large-school entries during last Tuesday’s CNY Indoor Track Association meet at SUNY-Cortland’s Lusk Field House. Competing in the afternoon session, the girls Lakers finished fourth out of eight teams, earning 37 points, while the Skaneateles boys had 21 points for seventh place. Eileen Ford won the individual triple jump, going 32 feet 3 1/2 inches, as she and Jane Gaffney combined to win the team event by going 59 feet between them. Caroline Stanford, Carly Strods, Megan Dwyer and Danielle Mazzeo teamed for second place in the 1,600 sprint medley in 5:01.47. Strods and Jane Gaffney joined Emma Ford and Eileen Fords to take second in the 4×400 relay in 4:33.46 as Sophie Gorman and Grace Kelly earned second (22.22 seconds) in the 55 hurdles. Emma Ford had a third-place long jump of 13 feet 5 inches, while the Lakers also got fifth place in the 4×200 relay in 2:06.34. The boys Lakers stepped up in the 4×200 relay, where Calvin Davis, Xander Edwards, Sean Cooper and Connor Hurley put up a time of 1:41.71 and beat runner-up Liverpool by 1.6 seconds. Skaneateles took fifth in the pole vault, Tim Lewis clearing 9 feet by himself, and the Lakers were sixth in the shot put, too.
