Putting itself in the win column for the first time this winter, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys swim team went to Rome Free Academy last Monday night and put together a 100-81 victory over the Black Knights. At the start of the meet, the Northstars’ quartet of Billy Werksman, Tyler Smith, Danny Angarano and Cory Whalen worked together to take the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:00.22. Later in the meet, Werksman would prevail in the 100 backstroke (1:08.51), while Smith claimed first in the 50 freestyle in 25.05 seconds. Paul LaRosa swam to victory in the 500 freestyle (5:43.40) as Tom McAndrew needed 1:16.98 to win the 100 breaststroke. Liverpool appeared a day later and also won, taking out Nottingham 100-82, its third win in as many meets. All of the Warriors’ wins came early, including the 200 medley relay where Alex Coleman-Gridley, DrewHenry, Jake Burns and Joe Hens finished in a top time of 1:50.41. Hens would also finish first in the 200 individual medley in 2:21.44, while Tim Roche had a terrific showing on the diving board, earning 248.15 points. Cory Spado swam the 200 freestyle in 1:59.74, just breaking the two-minute mark, while Phil MacLeod took the 100 butterfly (1:06.34) and Shane Donovan needed 54.22 seconds to prevail in the 100 freestyle. Later in the meet, Brian Alsever won the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.02.
