Not finding any difficulty in early OHSL Liberty division action, the Cazenovia wrestling team breezed past Solvay/Westhill 61-10 Thursday night at Buckley Gym. Eight different times, the Lakers didn’t even have to take the mat. Jake Wilson (130 pounds), Billy Bigsby (135 pounds), Noah Shephard (152 pounds), Nick Bobbett (171 pounds), Cody Foster (189 pounds), Brad Nardella (103 pounds), Ryan Cook (112 pounds) and Jose Wells (119 pounds) all claimed forfeits. Still, there was some Cazenovia success in contested matches. Teddy Kugler pinned his 125-pound opponent, Cody McCarthy, in just 56 seconds, while Dylan Perry (145 pounds) beat Dan Toscano 12-1 and Adam Lockwood (140 pounds) topped Mitch Anthony 7-1. Having hardly worked against Solvay/Westhill, the Lakers found itself with more practice time before embarking for Whitesboro to compete in next Friday’s Tri-Valley Tournament. More than 20 teams are scheduled to participate, including local powers like Mexico, South Jefferson and Vernon Verona Sherrill.
