Continuing to hover near the top of the CNY Counties League standings, the West Genesee boys golf team won its only match last week, rolling past Cicero-North Syracuse’s Green squad 190-217 last Monday at Westvale. The Wildcats had just swept through a stretch of four wins in as many days from Sept. 14 to 17, and nothing changed against the Northstars. Nick Holzhauer nearly matched par, shooting a nine-hole total of 36, while Connor Khammar stepped up to shoot 37. Kevin Stone had CNS Green’s best round of 42. Following this, WG has a nine-day break, giving the team plenty of time to practice before next Wednesday’s showdown with Fayetteville-Manlius, also at Westvale.
