West Genesee’s cross country teams made it two wins in as many weeks in the CNY Counties League American division, going to Auburn Wednesday and sweeping past the Maroons as Bishop Ludden did the same at Weedsport. The girls Wildcats handled the Maroons 15-48. Laura Leff, who won the Central Square Invitational on Sept. 12, was first in this race, too, her time of 20 minutes, 26 seconds beating Anna Leo (20:35) by nine seconds. Behind them, Abby Kastick worked her way to third place (20:38), with Alex Incaudo in fourth place (21:24) and Kelly Powell fifth in 21:38. Amy Hannahan ran to seventh place (21:56), while Katie Riley finished ninth (22:23) and Jessica Emanuelli was 10th in 22:24. By a similar margin, the WG boys team beat Auburn 15-48. The Wildcats’ stars hit the line together as Sam Reedy won in a time of 17:11, with teammates Billy Gabriel and Steve Houghmaster sharing second in 17:12. Matt Gonnella landed in fourth place (17:19), two seconds ahead of Martin Leff (17:21) in a top-five Wildcat sweep. John DeLallo, in 17:48, led another pack that included Ethan Wojcik (17:58), E.J. Klaczko (18:21) and D.J. Campbell (18:22). Just to the north, in Weedsport, Bishop Ludden was also getting a pair of wins, beating the Warriors 17-44 on the boys side and 28-30 on the girls side. Nick Barletta pulled far away from the boys field, winning in 18:07, with Jim Blaslund (19:42) in second place. Peter Lynch (19:52) and Josh Allen (19:56) took third and fourth, respectively. In the closer girls meet, Ludden used a top-three sweep to hold off Weedsport. Jessica Curry won by a comfortable margin with her time of 21:24, as Betsy Black finished second (22:13) and Melissa Buttner third in 22:19.
