In their first gathering of the season, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys volleyball team got the jump on archrival Liverpool and never gave up that advantage, earning a three-game sweep of the Warriors last Tuesday night. Each of the first two games had a similar pattern, as the Northstars went to the lead and maintained a steady margin to win 25-18, then 25-20. And the third game proved more decisive, CNS using its power and precision to overwhelm Liverpool 25-15 to complete its effort. Jim Coleman, with 24 assists, set up a Northstars front line where C.J. Patzer had 10 kills and Brendan Ryan and Eric Munoz gained eight kills. Tyler A. Smith had six aces, to go with four assists and two kills, while James Runge got five aces. On Liverpool’s side, Aaron Carroll-Marsh provided a bright spot with eight kills, most of them by James Henty, who got 10 assists. Also on Tuesday night, Liverpool’s girls team handled Oswego in a 25-12, 25-16, 25-13 sweep. Jenna Street, with 10a assists, and Emily Dumas, with nine assists, set up a Warrior front line that punished the Buccaneers. Aubrey Barrett (eight kills), Anna Daucher (seven kills) and Tiara Gray (six kills) provided the power.
