After two shops closed last month, another business in the village of Camillus is closing up shop. Shear Impressions salon, 47 Genesee St., will remain open for a short time before owner and stylist Tina Sakran moves to a new booth at Hair Studio 5. Sakran opened Shear Impressions two years ago, and said she decided not to renew her two-year lease, even though business was booming. “I’m so busy I’m turning people away,” Sakran said. “That’s not good.” Now that she’s the only stylist at her salon, the client base is too much to handle, on top of the business end of running the shop. After an unsuccessful stylist search, Sakran decided it was time to move. “It totally sucks because I love my place,” she said.
Of all the stylists she tried to talk into coming to the village, none were interested, which surprised Sakran. There is no shortage of business, and it’s a convenient location right off the highway, but would-be employees just don’t want to be in the village for whatever reason, Sakran said. But for the heartache of closing her own shop, Sakran said she’s excited to be working at Hair Studio 5. Her booth is near the front of the salon, where customers will still enjoy the comfortable atmosphere she created in the village. As for Shear Impressions, Sakran would like to see another stylist take over the location, and she offers this advice: “If you’ve got two full-time girls, you’ll do fabulous.”
