With the CNY Counties League National division title in its possession, the Baldwinsville boys track and field team returned to Bragman Stadium last Wednesday, looking to add the Section III Class AA title. However, the Bees could not pull it off, managing 79 points for third place, just behind Rome Free Academy (80 points) for the runner-up spot. CNS, the hosts, earned 103 points and finished on top. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase alone, B’ville earned 22 points. Shaun Thompson easily won, posting a time of 9:47.27, with Andy Romeu finishing second in 10:21.79 and Joel Moss claiming fourth place in 10:36.08. Brian Kane, favored in the high jump, took second place, clearing 6 feet 2 inches, just behind Corcoran’s Laquan Rouse (6 feet 3 inches). Sean Bernstein was third (6 feet), while also taking fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.38 seconds) and fifth in the 200-meter dash in 23.26 seconds. Nate McCabe ran his way to second in the 3,200-meter run, in 9:52.58, though CNS’s Chris Buchanan won in 9:49.95, with Adam Pacheck (10:01.67) in fifth place. McCabe also finished fourth in the mile (4:29.98) as Pacheck (4:37.67) finished sixth. Tim Chambers earned third place in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:01.37, as he helped Pacheck, Thompson and Chris Wicks get to fourth in the 4×800 relay in 8:31.58. Matt Getman (131 feet 3 inches) and Raeshaun Jones (126 feet 11 inches) took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the discus, as Andrew Hoover ran to fifth in the 110 high hurdles in 16.36 seconds. The Bees also were fifth in the 4×100 (45.13 seconds) and 4×400 (3:35.59) relays as Bernstein, Wicks, Antonio Peck, Kyle Rogers, Parker Kiff, Jeff Pond and Jeff Kurey all took part. In the girls AA meet a day later, the Bees managed to earn 31 points for sixth place, watching as CNS (106.5 points) edged past Fayetteville-Manlius (105 points) for the top spot. Cathleen Green supplied the lone win, as she took the long jump by going 16 feet 10 inches, seven inches ahead of Liverpool’s Armani Moore. Kylie Mosher, Nicole Fecco, Jaime Balloni and M.C. Cunningham pushed the Bees to third in the 4×400 relay in 4:19.50. Bri Pollard was fourth in the 100-meter dash in 13.30 seconds and also was fourth (27.35 seconds) in the 200. Danae Polsin was fourth in the 1,500-meter run (4:59.81) and claimed fifth in the 3,000-meter run in 10:40.70 as Miranda Nicoletti was sixth in the shot put.
