Fayetteville-Manlius saw both of its track and field teams finish 5-1 in the CNY Counties League American division. When the boys Hornets beat Oswego 107-34 last Thursday afternoon, it tied for first in the league, while the F-M girls topped the Buccaneers 89-52 and was second to Rome Free Academy in its league race. Karl Thomson won twice in the boys meet, taking the shot put (45 feet 3 1/2 inches) and discus (125 feet 4 inches), while Chris Ruggeri won the triple jump (40 feet 7 inches) and won the high jump, clearing 5 feet 8 inches. Tyler Rhinehart cleared 10 feet in the pole vault. Ryan Jones ran to first in the 100-meter dash (11.6 seconds) and took the 200-meter dash in 23.9 seconds. Jones, J.R. Sage, Mike Matonse and Larry Tran covered the 4×100 relay in 47.0 seconds as Sage also won the long jump, going 19 feet 9 inches. Alex Hatz comfortably ran 800 meters in 2:05.3 and also took the 400-meter dash (51.3 seconds) as he, along with Gottech Kramer, Miles Lawlor and Jordan Foster, helped F-M win the 4×400 relay in 3:48.3. John Cico, Ben Sargrad, Ben Thomas and Joe Hartnett worked together in the 4×800 relay (9:09.8) as Cico lost a close mile (4:43.8) to Oswego’s Brandon Auyer (4:43.5) and Thomas needed 10:23 to win at 3,200 meters. In the girls meet, Jess Marini again pulled the double of the 400-meter dash (1:02.5) and 400-meter hurdles, holding off Oswego’s Alexis Files to win the latter event in 1:07 flat. Marini also teamed with Molly Malone, Natalie Alibrandi and Courtney Chapman to take the 4×400 relay (4:10.8) as Malone won the 800 (2:19.5), too. Alibrandi and Courtney Chapman joined Alexandra Chapman and Colleen Mulvihill as F-M ran the 4×800 in 10:56.6. Katie Sischo ran 1,500 meters in 4:52.9 as Kristen Buchan needed 11:44 to prevail at 3,000 meters. In field events, Erika Davin won the high jump, clearing 4 feet 10 inches, while Amanda Saunders took the pole vault. Jhoville Pommels was first in the shot put (30 feet 6 3/4 inches) and Tammy Gould threw the discus 76 feet 10 inches.
