Before the Baldwinsville girls lacrosse team could make its trip to West Genesee on Tuesday night, it had to get through three more prelminary steps. Of the two, the tougher examination was supposed to come Thursday against Cicero-North Syracuse at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium. After all, the Northstars had dragged B’ville to overtime in their first meeting on April 4. Nothing close to OT was required in the rematch, though, as the Bees set a torrid pace and pulled away to beat CNS 18-9. Neither side excelled on the defensive side early on. B’ville just had more firepower, slowly working its way to a 13-7 advantage. In the second half, a combination of sound defense and depth helped the Bees get away, as it held CNS to just one goal in those last 25 minutes. Kara Moschetti finished with six goals. Quincey Spagnoletti and Mackenzie Kjerstad each had three goals and one assist, with Sarah Clark scoring twice. Erika Bulken, Jen Fabian, Katie VanDeValk and Meghan Haney had one goal apiece. Two nights earlier, the Bees ripped through Henninger/Nottingham 20-1, steadily working its way through the Black Knights’ defense as six different players netted multiple goals. As she would with CNS, Moschetti led the way, scoring four times, while Spagnoletti had a three-goal hat trick. Bulken had two goals and three assists as Fabian, Kjerstad and Becky Guzzo also had two-goal outings. VanDeValk, Maddison Frink, Samantha Yaro, Meghan Cuddy and Bridget Florack also scored. B’ville’s 16th straight win came on Saturday, a 22-1 destruction of Rome Free Academy where 16 different players got at least one point. Bulken, Spagnoletti and Moschetti each had three goals, with Roberts, Frink and Taylor Ventre getting two goals apiece. Haney, Kjerstad, Yaro, Clark, Guzzo, Meghan Cuddy and Erin Ward also landed goals as Fabian earned two assists. Bridget Florack and Alyssa Anthony earned assists.
