To bounce back from its May 8 defeat to Cicero-North Syracuse, the Liverpool softball team again resorted to fine pitching efforts. Among other things, the Warriors have learned to live with fewer runs, as shown again by last Monday’s 3-0 victory over Auburn. Taking her turn on the mound, Erin Squairs held the Maroons to two hits. Liverpool patiently worked its way to single runs in the first, second and fifth innings as Abby Romano and Tiffany Sampere each got one RBI. Two days later, the Warriors went to Rome Free Academy and, in a similar effort, beat the Black Knights by that same 3-0 margin. Tiffany Sampere completely shut down the RFA lineup, earning 15 strikeouts as she gave up just one hit. Meanwhile, Liverpool got single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings against RFA pitcher Amelia Casalenuovo, earning five hits. Romano tripled home a run as Emily Dumas also earned an RBI.
