Still unbeaten, the Solvay boys track and field team had no difficulty at all during last Wednesday’s three-way meet with Christian Brothers Academy and Hannibal. The Bearcats beat the Warriors, 100-41 and the Brothers 118-16. Tyler Grim won twice, taking the 100-meter dash (11.9 seconds) and 200-meter dash (24.3 seconds), while Conor Halton ran to a win in the 110-meter high hurdles (18.1 second) and also won the 400 hurdles in 1:02.1. Matt Fedrizzi stayed busy, too, winning the 800-meter run (2:06.0) as Jeremy Parker took the 400-meter dash in 51.7 seconds. Parker, Fedrizzi, Rich Salvagno and Pete Buczakowski won the 4×800 relay (8:53.9), while Grim and Halton helped Salvagno and Fedrizzi take the 4×400 relay in 3:47.1. Moving to field events, C.J. Brooks won both the discus (130 feet 7 1/2 inches) and shot put, the latter by throwing it 45 feet 9 inches as Tom Bradley (44 feet) took second. Parker won the high jump (5 feet 4 inches) as Jeremy Santoferrara cleared 9 feet 6 inches in the pole vault. Solvay would also win on the girls side against Hannibal, beating the Warriors 92-49 as it los to CBA 82-58. Bre Lioto stood out for the Bearcats, winning the 100-meter high hurdles (17.8 seconds) and clearing 4 feet 6 inches in the high jump. In the 4×400 relay, Christina Clemente, Erin Ryan, Anna Salvagno and Sarah Fonda prevailed in 4:39.2.CBA’s Carol Giblin led her side by winning the 800, 1,500 and 3,000-meter runs in the same meet.
