Moving to 3-1 in the OHSL Liberty division, the Skaneateles girls track and field team went to Buckley-Volo Field last Wednesday and dominated against Cazenovia and Homer, beating those other Lakers 100-41 and handling the Warriors 125-15. Victoria Sakal needed 13.0 seconds to take the 100-meter dash and 27.5 seconds to beat the field in the 200-meter dash. She also teamed with Cassie Berg, Carley Baulick and Kaela Fiutak to win the 4×100 realy in 53.1 seconds. Eileen Ford, who was first in the 400-meter dash (1:03.4), helped Amanda Gray, Alex Dembs and Kelsey Eishelman as Skaneateles won the 4×800 relay in 10:17.2. In other distance races, Beatrice Walton covered 800 meters in 2:30.3 and Blair Gage took the 3,000-meter run in 12:34.4. Christie Barnett ran the 400 hurdles in 1:09 flat and helped Walton, Gray and Carly Strods win the 4×100 relay in 4:21. In field events, Caroline Walton swept the discus (96 feet 9 1/2 inches) and shot put (31 feet 2 inches), while Madison Eckles cleared 9 feet in the pole vault to beat Cazenovia’s Piper Gianforte (8 feet 6 inches). Gabby Eckles won the high jump, clearing 4 feet 10 inches. As this was going on, the Skaneateles boys team was earning its own sweep, beating Cazenovia 75-66 and rolling past Homer 94-43. Brae Kriever and Patrick Rooney both won twice. Kriever swept to titles in the 100 (11.4 seconds) and 200 (24.0 seconds), while Rooney unleashed a triple jump of 41 feet 7 1/4 inches and tore through the 400 hurdles in 58 seconds flat. In the 400-meter dash, Calvin Davis prevailed in 53.7 seconds, while Tim Lewis cleared 5 feet 8 inches in the high jump and Drake Hill threw the shot put 44 feet 2 inches. Skaneateles gained its margin through sweeping the 4×100 (48.4 seconds), 4×400 (3:34.9) and 4×800 (8:47.7) relays. Davis, Lewis, Rooney, Kriever, Xander Edwards, Ethan LaPort, Kevin Gregg, John Turose, Steven Tucker, Mark Cannuciari and Eric Stucker all took part. The boys Lakers had begun its OHSL Liberty slate by sweeping a three-way meet at Homer, beating the host Trojans 81-59 and routing Christian Brothers Academy 106-25. Kriever ran the 100 in 11.4 seconds, also won the long jump by going 19 feet 5 1/2 inches, and teamed with Davis, Rooney and Sean Cooper to claim the 4×400 relay in 3:40.9. With Kriever on board, Skaneatele also won the 4×100 relay in 48 seconds flat. On his own, Davis won twice at distance events, blazing through the mile in 4:44.8 and also taking the 800-meter run in 2:06.3. Rooney dominated the 400 hurdles, winning in 58.8 seconds, one of the fastest Section III times of the season, and also flew 42 feet 5 inches in the triple jump. Hill won the shot put(43 feet 5 inches), while Cooper claimed the 110 high hurdles in 17.2 seconds.
