At least for the moment, move the Baldwinsville boys track and field team to the top in the CNY Counties League National division. The Bees earned a tie with Cicero-North Syracuse for that top spot during last Wednesday’s meet against Liverpool at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium, fighting its way past the Warriors 81-60. Three different times, Sean Bernstein took individual titles. He claimed the 100-meter dash in 10.9 seconds, beating teammate Rudy Sapp by half a second, and also rolled in the 200-meter dash as he won in 22.8 seconds. Bernstein also cleared 5 feet 8 inches to win the high jump and, in the 4×100 relay, teamed with Sapp, Todd Mitchell and Parker Kiff for a first-place clocking of 45.0 seconds. As that went on, Kyle Rogers was winning the long jump, going 19 feet 7 inches, as an addition to his winning the 400-meter dash in 52.6 seconds. He also helped the Bees’ 4×400 team post 3:40.9, just behind Liverpool, who won in 3:38.5. B’ville flourished in field events, where Brian Kane went 39 feet 1 inch in the triple jump, Alan Gribble won the pole vault (8 feet) and Matt Getman tossed the discus 125 feet 2 inches. In other close calls, Nathan McCabe finished second in the mile (4:34.2), with Adam Pacheck third in both that event and the 3,200. Tim Chambers (2:02.1) nearly beat Liverpool’s Alex Wilke (2:01.8) at 800 meters as Kyle McCaleb finished second in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.9 seconds. A day earlier, the B’ville girls team met Liverpool and found points difficult to obtain in a 110-31 loss to the Warriors. Nicole Fecco did sneak in and take first in the 800-meter run in 2:27.7. She joined Jaime Balloni, Ashley Shaheen and Kristina Sprague to take the 4×800 relay in 10:10. Liverpool won every other event, as stars like Wanetta Rodney (100-meter dash, 12.8 seconds) and Trina Bills (400-meter dash, 1:01.2) stood out. As a cap to the week, B’ville hosted, on the boys side, the annual John Arcaro Memorial Relays, where it would finish second with 84 points as Cicero-North Syracuse won with 119 points. In the 4×1,600 relay, the Bees’ quartet of Pacheck, Chambers, McCabe and Shaun Thompson won in 18:53.4. Kane and Bernstein won the high jump, combining to clear 12 feet, while Thompson helped B’ville, take the 3,000 steeplechase in 21:01.5. B’ville also got second in the 110 high hurdles (33.0 seconds), distance medley relay (10:56.7) and 4×800 relay (8:46.3). Also, the Bees had third-place efforts in the 400 hurdles (2:07.7), sprint medley relay (2:07.0) and 4×100 (44.7 seconds), plus fifth-place efforts in the discus, long jump and triple jump. Meanwhile, the girls Bees were at the Warrior/Hawk Invitational at Central Square, where Green participated in the five-event pentathlon and won with a total of 2,626 points, beating the field by more than 400 points. Balloni finished second in the 400 in 1:01.6 and Fecco was second in the 800, her time of 2:22.2 just behind Liverpool’s Miranda McConnell (2:20.4).
