By the time they met up on Friday afternoon, the West Genesee and Solvay baseball had already gone through a week full of activity, so both were ready for a battle. However, only the Wildcats would prove happy on this day, beating the Bearcats 13-2 as part of a closing rush that included back-to-back double-digit run performances. WG stormed in front with a pair of first-inning runs, then scored five times in the bottom of the second off Solvay pitcher Kyle Groth to make it 7-0. It got to 11-0 in the fifth inning before Solvay scored both of its runs in the top of the sixth with a Kyle Anthony single. Matt Fantacone pitched in relief of Groth, who took the loss. Shawn Schlitz went most of the way for the Wildcats and got the win. Greg Wadach starred at the plate with a double, triple and three RBIs, while Dan Connor and Jake Fietkiewicz each drove in two runs. Right after this, WG went to Skaneateles Saturday and caused even more offensive damage, bashing the Lakers 19-5. A six-run first inning set the tone for the rest of the afternoon as WG compiled 17 hits and took full advantage of five Skaneateles errors. Erik Krohl doubled twice, picking up four RBIs as Justin Capella also drove in four runs, a season high for both. Tyler Carr, Kevin Petrick and Adam Bishop each had two RBIs, with Wadach, Turner Parry, Brian Burns and Josh Phillips driving in one run apiece.
