As the March 18 village elections quickly approach, Eagle Newspapers will sponsor a public debate for candidates running for Camillus Village Trustee at 7 p.m. Thursday March 12 at the Camillus Senior Center, 25 1/2 First St. Two village trustee positions will become vacant and five candidates are running for a place on the board, making this year’s election one of the most contested and exciting in recent village history. The debate will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the first-floor meeting room in village hall.
Candidates will answer questions from The Advocate Editor Ami Olson and from each other; questions submitted by residents of the village will also be considered. The event will allow candidates the opportunity to address current issues facing the village as well as topics that they may face as board members, (such as the future of the Camillus Cutlery building, funding and taxation in light of the economic crisis, and government modernization), while offering residents the chance to hear their future leaders weigh in on their own priorities and concerns before heading to the polls. For some background on each candidate, visit The Advocate on the web at cnylink.com and read why they are running and what they have to offer residents of the village. To submit questions for consideration or for information about the debate, contact Ami Olson by mail at 5910 Firestone Dr., Syracuse NY13206; by phone at 434-8889 ext. 335; or via e-mail at [email protected]. Deadline for submitted questions is 5 p.m. Wednesday March 11. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday March 18 in the village hall.
