With lots of versatility, the Cazenovia girls indoor track and field team moved up to third place during Monday night’s OHSL Liberty/Patriot division meet at Manley Field House. Overall, the Lakers had 68 points, as CBA repeated its Section III Class B title by winning here, too, earning 138 points as Skaneateles (89 points) took second. In field events, Paige Biviano provided the big highlight, winning the long jump when she went 15 feet 6 inches. Gabby Jaquith (14 feet 1 3/4 inches) was fourth. Piper Gianforte cleared 7 feet for second place in the pole vault, while Molly Woodworth threw the shot put 25 feet for her own runner-up finish. Chelsea Procopio was fourth (28 feet 11 3/4 inches) in the triple jump. Kara Cannizzaro nearly won at 600 meters, her time of 1:46.99 just behind CBA’s Melissa Zajdel, who won in 1:46.31. Biviano, on the oval, took third place in the 55-meter high hurdles in 9.90 seconds. Hollie Marcelle was fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:18.39. In the 4×400 relay, Cannizzaro, Marcelle, Jillian Vogl and Meaghan Liddell finished third in 4:20.74. Cannizzaro, Marcelle and Liddell returned with Alex Dolbear for fourth in the 4×800 (10:53.21) as Vogl, Jaquith, Gianforte and Katie Woodworth took fourth (1:58.54) in the 4×200. A night later, in the boys OHSL Liberty/Patriot meet, Cazenovia had 27 points, finishing eighth in a field of 13 as Tully won with 84 points. Tim Wheeler gained second place in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet 6 inches, and added a second in the triple jump by going 38 feet 3/4 inch. Pat Dermody, on the oval, ran his way to third place in the 3,200-meter event in 10:16.62. In the long jump, Wheeler was fourth (17 feet 4 inches) and Mike Blanchard (16 feet 5 1/2 inches) in sixth place.
