Having seen a 14-game win streak vanish in the course of back-to-back defeats to Bishop Ludden and Cazenovia, the Westhill girls basketball team immediately started to build its confidence back up. The Warriors got a nice test last Tuesday night at Jordan-Elbridge, needing a big third quarter to take charge in a 53-35 victory over the Eagles. When Westhill took an early 13-6 lead, all looked to be normal. But J-E turned it all around in the second quarter, shutting the Warriors down and, by halftime, inched in front 19-18. Staring at real trouble, the Warriors did not blink. Instead, it cranked up the intensity on both ends of the floor and didn’t stop until it had outscored the Eagles 16-4 in the third period, which turned out to be a decisive move. Though Carly Cooper’s outside shooting struggles continued, she still had 13 points, just behind Annie O’Connor, who led both sides with 17 points. Sam Marshall provided a big amount of help with 12 points as Emily Haggerty added six points. On J-E’s side, Liz Caspari led with 11 points, with Kali Davis adding eight points. Kate Dungey and Molly Hourigan each had six points.
