Instead of sealing up its Section III Division II playoff spot, the CBA/J-D ice hockey team made the quest a bit more adventurous. With a chance to move even further up the ladder in last Tuesday’s game against Solvay at Onondaga Nation Arena, the Brothers instead took a 4-2 defeat. Nick Firman and Gordie Gehring would both land third-period goals on CBA/J-D’s behalf, as Cam Sylvia assisted on both scoring plays. Brendan Flanagan and Heath Ferris also had assists. However, all that came after Solvay had raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first two periods. With the Brothers’ defense swarming Division II leading scorer Tim Burgess, Josh Ginestro got open for a three-goal hat trick, as Burgess got two assists. CBA/J-D will be at home again Saturday, this time to face Division II West leader Corcoran.
